Caring for Your LoveBug Studios Quilt

Your LoveBug Studios custom quilt always comes with a care label on the back. In the event that your quilt label has faded, been removed, or is otherwise unavailable, these general care instructions apply.

Art Quilts, Wall Hangings, & Memory Quilts

In general, we do not recommend washing these types of quilts, as there may be materials incorporated into the quilt which will not withstand home laundering. If your art quilt becomes dusty, lightly vacuum the surface of the quilt with an upholstery attachment. If it becomes soiled, spot-clean the fabric with a gentle detergent & rinse with cold water. Be careful of any embellishments on the quilt as these may not withstand harsh cleaning techniques.

Baby & Toddler Quilts, Bed Quilts

These quilts are generally made of 100% cotton fabrics, with a cotton/poly blend batting, and are constructed to take a beating. Nevertheless, we recommend certain cleaning techniques to preserve the life of your quilt.

If your quilt contains mostly light or medium fabrics, machine wash in warm water with a mild detergent. If your quilt contains mostly dark fabrics, machine wash cold with a mild detergent. When in doubt, use cold water to minimize shrinking & fading. Do not bleach.

Tumble dry low until the quilt is just damp, then air dry. Shrinking of up to 5% during the first washing is to be expected, and is not considered a defect.
